A classic blend of hymns and choruses with choir and orchestra
Worship that reflects new styles and artist
Rick was born and raised in the west side of Oklahoma City. He grew up in Bethany and attended Putnam City West High School. He gave up on a football career after one of his high school coaches said, “Thompson, you may be small, but you’re slow!” Rick grew up in a wonderful Christian environment as a pastor’s son and gave his life to Christ at the age of nine.
At a relatively young age, Rick felt the call to ministry and started down that path in college after accepting a position as youth minister. He served various churches along the way before getting degrees from Baylor University (BBA), Southwestern Seminary (MDIV) and Midwestern Seminary (DMIN). Through the years, Rick has developed a philosophy of ministry that utilizes a Gospel-centered, biblically-based approach to missions, discipleship and worship. He has authored four books, Radical Growth,
The Long-Expected Jesus, The Way of the Cross, and The Healthy Church.
Rick and his wife, Teri, moved back to Oklahoma City in 2003 to lead CRBC after serving churches in New Mexico, South Carolina and Texas. They both enjoy long biking trips, hikes and any kind of outdoor activity. They are very thankful that the OKC Thunder came to town because it gives them both a team to cheer for since they can’t agree on the Sooners versus Cowboys question. Rick and Teri have two wonderful adult children, Taylor and Tallie, who are both graduates of Oklahoma Baptist University, and a daughter-in-law, Ailee.
Sarah is a native Oklahoman, but has lived everywhere from the Gulf Coast to the Canadian border. When she was in the 5th grade, she and her brother asked Jesus to be their Savior one Wednesday after school in Good News Club in the tiny town of Cut Bank, Montana.
She felt the call to Christian service as a junior at OBU and has worked at Council Road Baptist Church since 1984 in a variety of ministries and roles. She has had the privilege of serving with all five pastors at Council Road and is currently the Senior Pastor’s Assistant and Communications Editor. She has played flute in the CRBC Orchestra since 1983 and has studied with Parthena Owens of the OKC Philharmonic. She serves in the music ministry together with her husband, David, who plays keyboards, and this is where they met and married.
Besides music, she and Dave also enjoy traveling, gardening, photography, reading, cheering for OU football and Thunder basketball, and entertaining their Savannah cats.
