Serve One Another
Galatians 5:13-16
Rick
Thompson
Scripture teaches us
the principle of servant-hood. We are to
serve one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:23). Today
we will see that serving others is the essence of strong relationships.
- Why we need relationships…
There is a theological
explanation to why we need each other.
1.
We were created for relationships
In the creation story,
we find an explanation for why we have a need for each other.
2.
Need for others is at the very core of our being
3.
We gain a greater sense of ourselves from our relationships
When we are in
relationship, we learn about ourselves.
- Why we struggle in
our relationships…
Just as there is a theological explanation for our need for
a relationship, there is also a theological explanation for our struggle in
relationships.
1. The world is broken
The result of the fall is catastrophic on human nature as
well as creation.
2. We are broken
Our sin is the core reason we struggle in relationships.
1. Look to the one who took the hit for our
brokenness
2. Rely on His Spirit
3. Follow His example
4.
Serve others as He has
