We gather to celebrate His glory. Christianity is all about celebration. The reason early Christians first gathered on the first day of the week was that Sunday was resurrection day. So the Sunday worship gathering of the church body has always been a celebration of the gospel as the central reality of life. The truth of the gospel is that the God of the universe has lavished His love on us by dying on the cross to rescue us from our sinful condition and that He rose again in victory over sin and death. That truth overwhelms every other truth and is the lens through which we see all of life. Therefore the weekly gathering for celebration worship is more than just a tradition, it is an essential aspect of the Christian experience for every believer.

We seek to make the connection of His timeless truth to our daily experience. The dynamic process of spiritual growth is the result of making a connection to His truth and applying that knowledge to the way we live and think. Our objective as a church is to make disciples by learning, studying and teaching His word within the context of biblical community. We hold a high value on teaching and learning the Bible. In addition to our Sunday services and groups, we offer many different discipleship courses throughout the week to help edify believers who are intent on spiritual growth. The following venues are where adults can connect with others to God's Word.

GROUP LIFE

Group Life at Council Road represents the very definition of what it means to be THE CHURCH. In our Connection Groups (Sunday mornings) and Home Groups our people find how God has called us to live in community with each other. To be in biblical community is so much more than merely friendships. It is our hope that in our Groups, each person would meet others they can join with in the most meaningful moments in life. Our Groups are focused on developing the Christ-like qualities in each other and in our church. We believe that we are on a journey of faith, overcoming sin, and discovering what it means to follow Christ. We need sojourners, people walking with us, working beside us, and celebrating the lives God has given us. We hope that every member of Council Road will be in a group, and that every group will be on the mission that God’s given us.

GIVING TO OTHERS

We give our lives away for the cause of Christ. The Bible teaches us that in order to truly find life, you have to give your life away. Jesus demonstrated by His sacrificial life and death on the cross that the essence of joy and meaning is to serve others and not yourself. “The Son of Man has come not to be served, but to serve”. The life that is centered on self is a miserable existence that leads to destruction, but the person who helps and loves others and gives of himself has found God’s eternal purpose.

We would also like to ask your family to consider covering the cost for one of your students’ friends in hopes that God may use this weekend to help change their life. Believe it or not, that could mean the difference in your students’ friends coming with them.

WHAT IS BIG WEEKEND?

It is an in-town retreat where students gather in small groups based on grade and gender. Then, we will use those groups to assign host homes (homes of trusted church members) for them to stay with and participate in group rec/games and have bible studies. Throughout the weekend, we will also have ALL students gather for large group services and meals. For the most part it can be summed up as a spiritually encouraging weekend for students, who get to have a big slumber party with other awesome students!

FORMS: All students will need to fill out a 2018 Participation form for CRBC this will be valid through the entire year. Forms can be found on the tab on the left side of this page. THE ELEVEATION FORM MUST BE FILLED OUT FOR EVERY STUDENT BY THEIR GUARDIAN! Please print forms, fill out, and bring them to Big Weekend registration or email to kfranks@councilroad.org before 1/22/19.
