Discussion Questions

1 Peter 4
Arm Yourself with His Attitude

  1.  Read 1 Peter 4 as a group. On a scale from 1-5 (1 being least), to what degree do you feel you are persecuted for your faith in Christ? Please explain.
  2. How much time do you spend around people that aren’t Christians? (People that don’t think like you or have the same values as you)
  3. Do you think questions 1 and 2 are proportionate to each other? Please explain.
  4. Should Christians seek out opportunities to be around people who aren’t Christians or just try and minister to whoever is around them? Ask your group to share examples from their own lives.
  5. 1 Peter 4 tells us that we should be willing to suffer unjustly because of our faith in Christ. In v1, Peter tells believers to arm ourselves with the same attitude as Christ who suffered for us. To which attitude do you think this verse is speaking? What does it mean to arm ourselves?
  6. Read v9-10 as a group. How does our hospitality and serving one another through our gifts help each other endure suffering? How would you grade your group in this area?
  7. Read v13 as a group. What does this verse tell us about how our suffering connects us with Christ? How does our earthly suffering impact our eternity?
  8. Ask your group to share ways that someone is suffering for their faith. Spend time praying strength into his or her life. Pray Galatians 6:9-10 over your group to dismiss.
